September 9, 2011. I have posted several photos. The first is of the Boat Haven Marina at sunset on the 7th. The following morning was nice and slow, we had our Longbottom Coffee and breakfast, got organized and went for a slow cruise around Townsend Bay. At 11 am we had to check in with the festival Harbormaster to get our slip assignment. During our cruise, I snapped a few photos of boats waiting at the front of Hudson Marina for their turn in the harbor. Hudson Marina is a fairly small marina, so it takes some organization to fit 300 boats into it. Once we were tied up, we stood up high on the West breakwater and watched the boats as they filed in. One photo is of the tug “Elmore” built in the late 1800’s. The last is of the marina as the sun is setting.
What is so cool about this event is people are here from all over the globe to see the largest wooden boat festival in the nation, and everyone of us has a love of wooden boats and fine carpentry. For this weekend we are all one.
The food is great, the beer is wonderful and the bands played late into the evening. Tomorrow, Friday the show begins!
