Sailing on Memorial Day Weekend
Thursday, Jody, Josey and I launched “Slough Coot” (Dudley Dix Cape Henry 21) at the Elochoman Marina boat ramp around 7pm. Welcome Slough is approximately 6 nautical miles up river where she will be moored for the summer. We had a nice 10 knot up river breeze that pushed us at 3 knot against the…
Dudley Dix – Cape Henry 21: Upgrades
This last week I added a few things to “Slough Coot”, our Dudley Dix design Cape Henry 21. On our return from sailing the San Juan Islands, I made a list of to do’s. I completed all but the last, which is a solar charging system! Once she was put away for the winter I…

A long time friend spent the last day of the Port Townsend Wooden Boat Festival with Jody and I. She sent these photos a couple of days ago. We showed our Dudley Dix design Cape Henry 21 gaff cutter!
Pelicano 18 – Farewell

Dudley Dix – Cape Henry 21: Sunrise on the Columbia
Here is a sunrise shot making way up the Columbia to one of our favorite Steelhead spots. You can see Mt. St. Helens in the background. Also a shot of “Slough Coot” back in the water after building her a new bowsprit and Bobstay! She will get her new mainsail in mid August.
Dudley Dix – Cape Henry 21: Bowsprit and Gaff
Today I added the third coat of paint on both the bowsprit and gaff. Tomorrow I’ll install the bowsprit anchor mounts, hang the anchor and, if all goes well, put her back in the water.
Dudley Dix – Cape Henry 21: Slough Coot Back in the Yard
Slough Coot is back in the yard. The previous owner fit the Cape Henry 21 with a bowsprit 32″ long when the plans show 4 feet. He also built the gaff at 9 feet, when the plans show 12′-4″. I have had a new mainsail made and it should be fit to the boat on…
