Pelicano 18 – Prep Work
I spent today getting her ready to put right side up on her keel. As you can see, I can already lean on her. Tomorrow is the big day. Started at 2:00 pm and ended at 5:00 pm.

Pelicano 18 – Longboard Sanding
July 14 from 2:00 pm – 5:30 pm: Today, I started the longboard sanding. July 15 from 7:00 am – 1:00 pm: Continued longboard sanding. From 3:00 pm – 4:30 pm: Applied first coat of finish top coat. Tomorrow I will sand in again with fine and put the last coat on.

Today, I applied masking tape, bottom paint and hull top coat paint. Next weekend I will take a longboard to the top coat and will apply the final coat and white boot stripe. Started at 7:00 am and ended at 1:00 pm.

Pelicano 18 – Purple Heart Keel
I passed on the faring compound today and cut, fit and mounted the purple heart keel. I need to fiber glass the keel to the hull so to apply faring compound at this time would be putting the cart before the horse. Started at 9:30 am and ended at 2:30 pm.

Today I fared the entire hull and then fiber glassed it. Tomorrow I will put faring compound over the hull, sand it smooth and prepare it for paint. Started at 7:30 am and ended at 1:00 pm.

June 30 from 8:30 pm to 9:45 pm: fared hull with 80 grit in preparation for fiber glass tape. July 1 from 8:30 am to 1:30 pm: taped all seams with double layer of 6 ounce fiber glass. Tomorrow, I will fare all the high spots and fiber glass the hull.
