January 10, 2012; 1:30 pm – 5:30 pm; day 44. I put the 1st coat of varnish on the fir superstructure and the redwood galley. Then I cut, glued and clamped the gunwale clamps.

January 8, 2012; 8:00 am – 1:30 pm; day 43 (218.5 single man hours to date). Today I hand planed the superstructure bulkheads and beams to there proper shapes. Then sanded, prepping for varnish. January 7, 2012; 8:30 am – 3:30 pm; day 42. Today I continued the building of the superstructure. As you can see her lines are starting to show. I also posted a photo of this evening’s sunset on the north side of Puget Island.

January 6, 2012; 9:00 am – 2:30 pm; day 41. Today I planed, cut and fit full 1″ old growth fir to the bulkheads. These 1″ fir boards act as part of the main super structure for the cabin and decking. There is and old saying about boat building “you can’t have to many clamps”.

January 4, 2012; 9:00 am – 3:00 pm; day 39. Today I cut and fit the 1″x10″ alder floor boards and roughed in the galley. Tomorrow I’ll sand and varnish them.

December 29, 2011; 1:00 pm-4:30 pm; day 38. Today, I sanded the 2nd coat with 220 grit, cleaned and applied the 3rd coat.

December 28, 2011; 6:00 am – noon; day 37. Today I sanded the first coat with 120 grit, prepped and painted the 2nd coat of interior paint. One more to go!
