Marina – Blackberry Wine and Garage Surrounds
Yesterday, I racked off 26 gallons of wild blackberry wine from a big barrel. It will now bubble in glass carboy bottles till Christmas. We might unbottle the single gallon jug at thanksgiving;0). After the wine I hung the garage door surrounds. I also got word from the truss guys, and they say there moving up…
Marina – Windows and Door
This last week I called a couple of good friends, and we installed the windows and exterior door. Then, we covered the sub-siding with 15# roofing felt. It is now ready to receive the wood board and bat finish siding. But, before that can happen we have to haul a couple of large logs out of the river and…
Marina – Plywood Sheathing
Today I finished up the plywood sheathing. Now the house is ready to receive the roof trusses. They will arrive the last week of September or the 1st week of October. Next week I pick up the doors and windows.
Marina – House is Framed
The house is framed. The trusses won’t be here till the first week in October. Until then, I will complete the 1/2″ plywood sheeting then move on to installing the windows and exterior doors.
Marina – Interior Baring Wall
This morning I got a little help from some friends. We lifted the interior baring wall that will hold up one side of the roof trusses. Next week I’ll build the last two exterior walls and the two short walls on each side of the dormer. Then set a couple of beams and build the…
Marina – Raising Another Wall
This morning I called a few friends to help me raise another wall.
Marina – 2nd Floor Walls
Today I framed a few walls but have run out of half inch plywood. Before they go up they need to be sheeted with plywood. That will happen next week. The view from here is beautiful. I snapped a shot of the Osprey this morning. The young couple keep adding branches to their nest.
Marina – Finishing the First Floor
The last few days I’ve been finishing up the first level. All the blocking is done along with cutting the stair runners and fitting one side with 2×4 temporary treads. The second level has been decked with 3/4″ T&G plywood so now I move up stairs and begin building walls.
Marina – Joist for 2nd Floor
Today my good friend Craig and I measured off the layout, cut and installed all the floor joist for the second floor. Tomorrow I plane to deck it with sheets of 3/4″ T&G plywood decking.
