Marina – 2nd Floor Walls
Today I framed a few walls but have run out of half inch plywood. Before they go up they need to be sheeted with plywood. That will happen next week. The view from here is beautiful. I snapped a shot of the Osprey this morning. The young couple keep adding branches to their nest.
Marina – Finishing the First Floor
The last few days I’ve been finishing up the first level. All the blocking is done along with cutting the stair runners and fitting one side with 2×4 temporary treads. The second level has been decked with 3/4″ T&G plywood so now I move up stairs and begin building walls.
Marina – Joist for 2nd Floor
Today my good friend Craig and I measured off the layout, cut and installed all the floor joist for the second floor. Tomorrow I plane to deck it with sheets of 3/4″ T&G plywood decking.
Marina – Stem Wall, Center Post, Beam Set
The last couple of days I got the stem wall and center post up and plumb ready to receive the beams. Today I got three good friend over this morning to help me cut and set the 4) large glue-Lam’s and the 3) garage door headers.
Marina – North and South Walls
Today I got a bunch of friends (12) to help me lift the two long north and south walls along with the north corner Simpson sheer brace.
Marina – Interior Wall
Today I finished and put up the 2×6 interior wall. This wall has all the ABS rough-in drain plumbing in it. It rained most of the day!
Marina – Framing
I’ve started framing the marina house this week. We just got our temporary job-site electrical service so I can put my 18v battery tools away and start using the real thing next week.
Fawns and Fishing
Yesterday I took this photo of this sweet little fawn in the flower beds right by the front porch. Today was one of those days! That crazy Josey had a great day fishing for Summer Steelhead.
River Traffic and Steelhead
This morning I was on the river early trying my luck at catching a steelhead. As we were fishing, a small US Coast Guard ship was making way up the Columbia river to join a number of other ships for the annual Portland Rose Festival celebration. Soon after, we saw another smaller USCG Cutter and a Brusco tug towing…
