May 14, 2012. Last week a friend that is a photographer zoomed out in his jet sled and snapped a few shot of Vanessa under sail. The sun was out and the breeze was light but boy did we have fun!

Inspiring build, thanks for the fine documentation. Might I ask if it is comfortable to sit in the cabin? Have you tried sleeping in it? and finally how high does it sit on a trailer (I have a low garage ~ 7′ 2″) and was wondering if it could be kept inside. I really liked your dodger, how is it working out functionally?
Thanks for you efflorts, very nice site

Dave,
Thanks for your kind words. It’s always nice to hear positive input and I’m glad the posts on the Eider part of our site have been helpful.
To answer your questions in order; I made a filler piece that fills the center “hall way” or companion way in the cabin when sleeping. This filler piece acts as the back of the “couch” of sitting area on the port side of the cabin. There is sitting head room in this area but you have to slouch a bit….it is very comfortable though. I am 5’11” and my wife is 5′ 6″ and this area will accommodate both of us. We have not slept in her yet but plan to spend a week on her at the Port Townsend Wooden Boat Festival. Believe me Dave, I would not put my wife through a week of not being able to sleep. Vanessa will sleep two with ease.
As far as the 7′ 2″ header on you garage door? I will be putting Vanessa on her trailer for the PT Fest and at that time I can make an accurate measurement for you.
The dodger works great, Vanessa was just at the Elochoman Slough Marina Wooden Boat Festival this last weekend (she won best in her class) and on the way back to her mooring was a 7 mile sail in very windy conditions with 3′ chop. I was as dry as a bone on arrival of her mooring. Without this dodger I would have been soaked!
Dave you can contact me directly on my email at [email protected] for future communication. The PT Wooden Boat Festival is taking place on the weekend of Sept 9th. If you could email just before or after this weekend I should have the measurement of how tall she sits of her trailer for you.
Thanks again for your comments,
